Mutton Skewers or Mutton Shish Kebab is one of the most scrumptious appetisers, loved by foodies all over the world. It is a delightful snack recipe that will tantalise your taste buds with its lip-smacking flavour. Made with the goodness of mutton, tomatoes, onions, and capsicum, these melt-in-your-mouth mutton skewers are perfect for a quick and easy snack.

Ingredients

  • 500gm boneless mutton washed and cleaned
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 medium sized capsicum cut in squares
  • 1 medium sized onion cut in squares
  • 1 medium sized tomato deseeded and cut in squares
  • cubed paneer, optional
  • breadcrumbs for coating
  • 2 eggs beated
  • Oil for frying
Spices
  • 1 full tsp of ginger garlic paste
  • 1/2 tsp white pepper powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • 1 full teaspoon any meat masala
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/4 tsp lemon juice optional

Instructions

  1. Mix all spices and marinate. Keep aside for 30 mins.
  2. Transfer the marinated meat to a pressure cooker. Add ½ cup water and on a high heat, boil the meat until 2 whistles. Lower the heat and cook for 10 mins.
  3. Turn off the heat and with the lid on let the meat cool for 10 mins. Open the lid and check if the meat is cooled and completely cooked. If there is residual water, cook in high flame until the water dries and allow to cool.
  4. Sprinkle salt and pepper to taste on square cut onions, tomato and capsicum.
  5. Slide a piece of mutton down a skewer, followed by a piece of green pepper, tomato, and onion. Continue until there is a 1-inch gap on the top of the skewer. Repeat with the remaining skewers.
  6. Take bread crumbs for coating in a flat plate and roll the skewer in it until completely coated. Repeat with the remaining skewers
  7. Take a deep vessel and heat the oil on a high flame. Turn the heat to medium-high. Dip each coated-skewer in egg and fry in batches, until golden brown on both sides.
  8. Serve with green chutney, ketchup, mayo or your favourite dip.
