All the flavors and spices of your favorite Indian restaurant, but you can make it at home! This Indian-style spicy chicken curry recipe is easy to make and delicious. It's a perfect dinner for a cold winter night.

Ingredients

  • 500 gm chicken on the bone
  • 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste.
  • 2 onions, chopped
  • 2 medium tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 ½ tsp red chilly powder
  • 1 ½ tsp coriander powder
  • ½ tsp turmeric powder
  • ½ tsp cumin powder
  • ½ tsp garam masala powder
  • 2 small cinnamon sticks
  • 4 cloves
  • 4 green cardamom
  • 2 green chillies, slit.
  • 75ml vegetable oil
  • ¾  glass water or as required
  • freshly chopped coriander leaves for garnishing
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Clean and wash the chicken and marinate it with ginger-garlic paste. Keep aside for 20-30 mins.
  2. In a deep vessel, pour 5 tbsp and place it on medium/high heat.
  3. When the oil is hot, add cinnamon, cloves and cardamon and sauté for about 1 min.
  4. Add chopped onions and cook until golden brown. Add marinated chicken and sauté for 2 mins.
  5. Add tomatoes, red chilly, coriander, turmeric, cumin and garam masala powder.
  6. Add salt as per taste and 2 to 3 tbsp water. Add the slit green chillies. Mix well. Cover and cook for 5 mins on medium flame until the tomatoes become soft or cooked. 
  7. After 5 mins open the lid and add half glass water and freshly chopped corriander leaves. Mix well. Cover and cook for 20mins on low flame till the chicken is tender or completely cooked.
  8. Open the lid and garnish with more coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or roti.
