Ingredients

  • 300gm minced meat
  • 4 to 5 medium potatoes, boiled and mashed
  • 1 medium sized onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1tsp garam masala
  • 1tsp coriander powder
  • 2 to 4 green chillies, finely chopped
  • 50gm coriander leaves, chopped
  • ½ lemon, squeezed
  • ½ cup green peas
  • bread crumbs
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

Preparation
  1. Clean and wash the minced meat. Boil and mash potatoes.
For mince meat
  1. Take oil in a pan and keep the heat on medium high.
  2. Add finely chopped onions, ginger garlic paste and cook until onions become translucent.
  3. Add minced meat, garam masala powder, salt. and cook for about 7 mins.
  4. Turn the heat to medium and add coriander powder and green chillies. Mix well, cover the pan with a lid and coook from another 7 to 10 mins.
  5. Keep stirring occasionally to avoid the mixture sticking to the pan.
  6. Add green peas and cook for another 5 to 7 mins or cook until the minced meat is cooked completely, leaves an aroma and changes colour to light brown. 
  7. Squeeze half a lemon in the mixture and allow to cool.
For the pattise.
  1. Shape the mashed potatoes into disc shape. Add a spoonful of the minced mixture and cover it with another disc shape potatoes. Make sure the mince mixture is completely covered.
  2. This should yield about 12-15 patties.
Frying
  1. Take bread crumbs in a plate and coat the patties in bread crumbs.
  2. Take oil in a vessel for frying and keep the flame on high temp. When the oil is piping hot, turn the flame/temp to medium high. Dip each mince mutton patties in beaten eggs and fry in batches. Fry until perfectly golden brown on each side.

Tips:

Serve with mint chutney, tomatoes and ketchup!
